Welcome to the Nest
The last time I worked with Cardinal was my senior year in high school. I was on an advisory committee with 3 other high school students trying to help boost teenage attendance to shows. I came into the offices two or three times and was done. But, being as infected by the theater bug as I was and still am, I continued to work on and act in shows for the next three years, and when I returned to Bloomington this summer, fresh out of my sophomore year of college and dying to dive back into it, I showed up at Cardinal offering my services for whatever they may need.
Now I work here every day.
The office was already chock full of interns when I arrived, and there was another coming in the next day. Needless to say I felt more than a little intimidated, entering into a place that had changed radically since I had last been a part of it. The office has moved into another part of the building; the posters were fancier; the staff had doubled in size. But despite these changes and my complete lack of experience working on the administrative side of it all, I was welcomed with open arms and wide smiles. Three weeks in and several projects deep, I feel like I’m part of a team here. The staff and interns have completely taken me under their wing, if you’ll excuse the terrible pun. There’s truly nothing more rewarding than working with people you like while contributing to something you believe in. The rest of this summer is going to rock. I can already tell.
